Question 1 : When is the deadline for converting my wood-burning stove or fireplace in Montreal?

Answer : Dès le 1er octobre 2018, l’utilisation d’appareils à combustible solide sera interdite sauf si ceux-ci font l’objet d’une reconnaissance par l’EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) à l’effet qu’ils n’émettent pas plus de 2,5 g/h (gramme/heure) de particules fines dans l’atmosphère.

Question 2 : Can a fireplace or stove be installed in any residence in Quebec?

Answer :Yes, but it must comply with applicable regulations.

Question 3 : How much does installation cost?

Answer : On average, full installation can cost anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000. The cost varies depending on the quality of the appliance and its components.

Question 4 : Is it preferable to install the chimney duct outside or inside the house?

Answer : It is preferable to install the chimney duct inside a closet or in a corner of the room. The draught will be better, and the duct will not require any housing. In addition, this type of installation reduces stack effect.

Question 5 : Do some stoves provide better performance than others?

Answer : Yes. EPA-approved appliances significantly reduce the emission of gases into the atmosphere. In addition, new technologies make it possible to almost completely consume combustion gases.

Question 6 : Is it possible to use two types of fuel (wood – oil) in the same chimney?

Answer : No. Each heating appliance needs a separate chimney for its own type of fuel.

Answer : Yes, and we will give you are certificate of compliance for insurance purposes. This certificate is recognized by the Régie du bâtiment du Quebec and the Association des Professionnels du Chauffage (APC).

Question 9 : Are you available for home visits?

Answer : Yes. However, depending on the season, we may charge a fee our expertise, which will be reimbursed if you retain our services following that visit.

Question 10 : Do you offer financing plans?
